Phillip Krim, CEO //
"As CEO, Philip leads Casper’s comprehensive business strategy, expansion, and vision for the future. Working with the company’s four other cofounders, Philip drives Casper’s goal of becoming the first endtoend sleep brand. Philip and Casper’s cofounders recognized a paradox in 2014 — a generation of entrepreneurs and working professionals who were placing increasing value on their health and fitness were neglecting sleep. Casper is now reimagining the sleep industry from the ground up. A serial entrepreneur, Philip has founded and served as CEO at two previous startups, where he focused on new and evolving consumer and ecommerce trends. He launched his very first business out of his dorm room at the University of Texas, Austin. Philip’s work has been profiled in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and USA Today, and he has been featured on CBS This Morning, Mad Money with Jim Cramer, and Fareed Zakaria GPS on CNN. He was named one of Business Insider’s Silicon Alley 100 and received a TechCrunch Crunchie award for Best in ECommerce."

Jeff Chapin, CPO //
"Jeff Chapin is a designer and engineer. As Chief Product Officer, he leads the development of Casper's physical products, including its awardwinning mattress. He strongly believes in a userled approach to design, engaging customers in research, ideation, and testing. Prior to cofounding Casper, Jeff spent 10 years at the design firm IDEO, where he led the development of many types of products, including spinal surgical tools, low cost irrigation systems, home energy monitors, shipping containers, and more. Jeff has also worked extensively in the developing world, primarily on clean water and sanitation projects with groups including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, USAID, and the World Bank. He holds over a dozen patents. Jeff frequently lectures on the topics of product design and social innovation and has taught courses at Stanford University, Harvard University, Brown University, MIT and Technisches Universitaet (TU) Muenchen. He has been an invited speaker at TEDxChange, the World Bank, Columbia Business School and the Harvard Social Enterprise Conference. He holds an MS in Product Design from Stanford University and a BSE in Civil Engineering and Geological Engineering from Princeton University."

theSkimm | About

"Making it easier for you to be smarter.
The Daily Skimm is delivered to your inbox each AM, giving you all the news and info you need to start your day."

"Two friends in our 20s, who hail from New York and Chicago.

Our startup romance is one for the books -- we met on a rainy day in Rome while we were both studying abroad in college. We bonded over a mutual love of fried artichokes. What we didn't know as we struggled to order in Italian, was that we'd reconnect years later working in our own country's capital. By that point, we had become professional storytellers, as producers for NBC News -- working in breaking news, political news, and documentaries. We clicked as colleagues, as friends, and as roommates, and it didn't take long for theSkimm to take off from our living room couch.

News is not only our career, it's our passion. Because of this, we have always been the go-to source for friends seeking the scoop on current events or breaking news. We soon realized three things: Reading the news is time consuming; Wanting to read the news is a hobby; lastly, not everyone has the time or interest.

theSkimm solves all that and makes it easier to be smarter.

In our spare time (which is rare) we can be found spooking each other with "Law & Order: SVU" marathons and trying to scheme our way into a free Equinox membership.

For two girls who grew up more "Morning Glory" than "The Social Network," it took a lot of guts, and white wine, for us to make theSkimm a reality.

Thank you for being a part of theSkimm Life. Get ready, we’re changing things.

You can’t buy happiness, but you can send flowers, and that’s pretty much the same thing. That’s why UrbanStems, an on-demand flower delivery service, was created – to spread happiness by making gifting fun and easy. The company launched in Washington, DC on Valentine’s Day in 2014 to combat the typical industry blues: dead flowers, late arrivals, and crazy-high prices. In December 2014, UrbanStems expanded to New York City. In February 2015, UrbanStems raised $1.5 million in seed funding. For further information, please visit:
